Delta Force Review - The Iconic Series Returns

I recently played Delta Force and wanted to share my experience. This game has potential but isn’t perfect.

Visuals and Performance

The graphics are impressive. The environments look detailed, and the lighting is realistic. Performance is smooth, even on mid-tier PCs like an RTX 2070. I didn’t encounter any significant frame drops or crashes.

Game Modes

Delta Force offers three modes: Story, Battlefield, and Tarkov-inspired. Unfortunately, the Story mode wasn’t available during my playtime.

Battlefield Mode is fast and action-heavy. It mixes infantry and vehicle combat. However, maps feel restricted, with limited exploration. Some areas lack interactivity, like shooting through thin surfaces. The operator system feels uninspired and repetitive, much like the one in Battlefield 2042.

The Tarkov-inspired Mode brings a fresh survival element. You collect loot, manage storage, and engage in tense firefights. Interactive maps add excitement, but solo players may find it tough against squads. Reviving teammates is a great feature, but balancing could use improvement.

Gameplay Mechanics

Gunplay is one of the game’s strengths. Weapons feel powerful, and hits are satisfying. However, movement mechanics need work. Infantry movement feels stiff, and tactical sprinting is awkward. Players want smoother and more responsive controls.

Multiplayer and Teamwork

Teamwork plays a big role in this game. Success depends on cooperation, especially in larger matches. Random teammates often worked well together, which is refreshing for an FPS.

Microtransactions and Progression

There’s no pay-to-win here. Weapons and characters unlock as you progress. Purchases are limited to cosmetics, which don’t affect gameplay. This system feels fair and rewarding.

What I Liked

  • Stable performance and great visuals.
  • Gun mechanics are enjoyable.
  • Emphasis on teamwork.
  • A fair, progression-based unlock system.

What Needs Improvement

  • Movement feels outdated and clunky.
  • Operator system reduces immersion.
  • Limited and non-interactive maps.
  • Balance issues, especially with overpowered snipers.

My Overall Thoughts

Delta Force is a fun game but lacks originality. It feels like a mix of Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Tarkov. While it borrows good ideas, it doesn’t yet excel beyond its inspirations.

If you enjoy FPS games, it’s worth trying and updates could address many of its current flaws. For now, I would rate it 6.5/10.
