Evolution of Tekken Video Game Series

The “Tekken” video game series is a brainchild of Namco. It was released in 1995 and had been going strong with 19 titles. It was so popular that it is one of the longest-running fighting game series to date, with 50 million units sold.

The first four installments of the “Tekken” series were exclusive for arcades, and the 5th one was released exclusively for the PlayStation. The arcade versions of “Tekken” were released as 3D games with 2D sprites, and the game’s motion capture was done with real actors. The game laid the foundation for 3D fighting games and was one of its kind at that time.

Tekken evolved in 1994 and has remained one of the most popular 3D fighters since. Tekken 7: Fated Retribution was released in 2015, and since then, the series has continued to evolve with an increase in content for players of all levels. It’s been 24 years, and Tekken has evolved from a humble PlayStation 1 debut.
